The Four Wall Ministry: Discipleship around every Corner
February 25, 2027
Our Lady of Light

Life has given me a number of opportunities to be unable to leave my home for extended periods of time. Often I will be asked if I am tired of the same four walls – never! Instead, God has given me a ministry – The Four Wall Ministry – where others come to help me, and it becomes a moment of discipleship for them and me. Eventually, I lead my life beyond my home again. It’s all a gift – life within my four walls when I need the help of others, and life outside of the four walls – discipleship, hospitality, friendship, and many other wonderful things are right around the corner.

Come hear Alyssa as she shares a story close to her heart!

Alyssa Bormes, Catholic Educator, Author, Speaker, and Emcee

Through humor, analogy, and an innate gift of storytelling, Alyssa Bormes helps ignite in her audiences a newfound sense of wonder in the Church. Her passion is to inspire others to take on greater personal responsibility for their faith and to grow in spiritual maturity.

Alyssa was a founding faculty member at Chesterton Academy in Hopkins, MN, where she taught Scripture to 9th and 10th graders. She is also an instructor at the St. Paul Seminary Catechetical Institute in St. Paul, MN.

Often speaking and writing for WINE: Women in the New Evangelization, Alyssa is featured in the books Wisdom from Women in Scripture and Gaze Upon Jesus. She was both and editor and writer in Called by Name.

In her book, The Mother of Jesus is Wonderfully Real, Alyssa orchestrated the coming together of a letter from her young niece who doubts the reality of Mary, and the letter in response from Fr. Paul Murray, OP, the Irish Dominican. The book includes a foreword is written by Alyssa, Bernadette Gockowski illustrated the book, and Bishop Robert Barron endorsed the book.

In The Catechism of Hockey, Alyssa uses the metaphor of hockey and sports devotion to encourage Catholic parents to embrace their God-given responsibility to teach their children the Faith. The accompanying Study Guide allows groups to enter more deeply into Scripture, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Alyssa wrote the introduction to Contraception and Persecution, which was the last book of the late Prof. Charles E. Rice, who was Professor Emeritus at the University of Notre Dame Law School.

Alyssa received her master’s degree in Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas, which included study at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome, Italy.
